National Archives of Malawi
One of our big projects is helping digitise the National Archive of Malawi. We are in the process of laying a solid foundation by critically looking at existing institutional and national policies. Terms of agreements are being drafted and a baseline study considering data links, costs, traffic analysis and storage needs is being designed.
In the meantime, we are working with the National Archives to resolve immediate needs like fundraising for the installation of CCTV cameras and designing a modern albeit temporary website which gives adequate information about the services that the archives offers.
Our close association with the National Archives of Malawi dates back to 2014 when, under the Prince Claus funded WikiAfrica/WikiMalawi project, we digitised images from the archives and the Society of Malawi, Historical and Scientific and deposited them on Commons, a repository for Wikipedia, other Wikimedia Foundation projects, and anyone interested in using those images which can be on the following links:
