Logos Open Culture to work on the Global Data Barometer
Logos Open Culture is excited to announce collaboration with the Local Development Research Institute on the inaugural edition of the Global Data Barometer.
Logos Open Culture will manage the national research for Malawi for the Global Data Barometer. We are looking forward to digging deeper into data policy and practice in Malawi across different sectors. This includes looking at data governance and use for public procurement, land, public finance, climate change, health, beneficial ownership disclosure, and more. With the Global Data Barometer we will come up with actionable recommendations to improve the way data is governed, used and shared for Malawi’s public good.
This builds on the work, passion and experience of directors Muti and Rachel. Muti (researcher and junior data scientist) has been part of Malawi’s open movement since 2005, working on Africanising Wikipedia through WikiAfrica and Portrait Malawi, Malawi’s first digital heritage repository. Rachel (researcher) researches and campaigns for more open, accountable governments. As part of her work, Rachel represented civil society in Malawi’s first multi-stakeholder group for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and contributed to developing the country’s first open data policy, which was specifically for this initiative.
