Exhibition “Tales of Old Malawi” by Ellis Singano at Chambo Market, 18 July-3 Aug

'Tales of Old Malawi' Art Exhibition at Chambo Market by Ellis Singano

Chambo Market is excited to announce the opening of Ellis Singano‘s latest exhibition, Tales of Old Malawi, on Thursday, July 18, 2024. You are all warmly invited.

Visual artist Singano draws inspiration from Tales of Old Malawi, a book from the Malawian Writers Series that his father Ellis Singano senior and Adrian Roscoe penned.

Singano said,

It is all about revisiting traditional tales that our grandparents used to tell us. These tales taken from my father’s book which was published in 1979 had meaning. We need not forget these stories.

I started this exhibition but it was incomplete and this is a continuation. I have lots of batiks and acrylic paintings on this and I am targeting to have about 18 piece on display.

Logos Open Culture has worked with Singano for over eight years. His beautiful batik work graces the cover art of our first publication, Malawi—A Place Apart (2017), and the recent second edition (2024).
