Charles Levison’s Landscapes of Malawi Exhibition Opening at Chambo Market, 31 October 2024, 6.30pm
This month’s event at the Chambo Market Bookshop and Art Gallery is the opening of Landscapes of Malawi visual art exhibition by Charles Levison on Thursday 31 October 2024, at 6.30pm.

About the artist
Charles Levison is an accomplished visual artist, filmmaker, and educator with over 10 years of experience using creativity to empower communities. He is an art teacher at a private high school in Lilongwe. Levison is also the Secretary General of the Visual Arts Association of Malawi and Vice Secretary General of the Film Association of Malawi. In 2023, he founded Art Cycle Malawi, an innovative recycling and art education initiative to promote sustainability, job creation, and youth development. Art Cycle Malawi is the first program of its kind in Malawi, collecting plastic waste and transforming it into art supplies.
Levison’s artwork has been featured in several exhibitions, including:
- Jacaranda Cultural Center in Blantyre (2016)
- UN Women in Lilongwe (2015)
- Youth to Youth Empowerment in Lilongwe (2017)
- The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind inspired art exhibition in Malawi (2020)
- Art with Tea in the United Kingdom (2021)
- Wildlife Society of Malawi (WESM) in Lilongwe (2021-2023)
Levison’s artistic skills include impressionistic and abstract painting and film production. He has received awards and recognition for his filmmaking from the Nthililo School of Arts.
