Led by their director Dr Paul Lihoma, the National Archives of Malawi has just finished hosting the 24th Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ESARBICA) General Conference at the Bingu Wa Mutharika International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe which run from the 7th – 11th August 2017.
In our quest to fully understand the work of our key partner, Muti invested time (and the application fee of USD370!) to be part of this five (5) day to gain key insights in the status of the archive as an institution. The Conference highlighted the critical role that records, archives and information management play in Public Sector Reforms to ensure Transparency and Accountability.
The keynote address “Open Government Partnership” was given by Dr Anne Thurston, Director of the International Records Management Trust, UK.
