Book chats in Blantyre and Zomba with Phoya for new book ‘Madonna is our Mother’: Notes from Malawi
Logos Open Culture is pleased to announce a series of book chats for our seventh publication ‘Madonna is our Mother’: Notes from Malawi in Blantyre and Zomba.
After a successful book launch in Lilongwe in March, author Muti Michael Phoya will do a book tour in the south of Malawi this coming weekend.
Muti will be in Blantyre at the end of the week. There, La Caverna is hosting a book chat with Muti on Friday 28 April (5-6.30pm) and Muti will be at KwaHaraba Cafe on Saturday 29 April (5-6.30pm). From there, he will move to the Zomba City Festival and be at the Africa Heritage Centre on Sunday 30 April.
The books will be available for purchase at all events.
About the book
In the collection of essays, Muti Michael Phoya reflects on the shifting character of postcolonial Malawi. Focusing mainly on the land and memory, the book paints a nuanced picture of a modern African country through its fascinating history.
African Arguments and Brittle Paper has listed the book ‘Madonna is our Mother’: Notes from Malawi among the most anticipated books out of Africa this year.
